HD labels are a starting point, not a measurement

A sharp thumbnail and an HD badge do not establish live-stream performance. Understand what a quality claim can and cannot demonstrate.

The key distinction

A thumbnail describes an image, not the performance of a live connection.

Ask what has actually been measured

An HD label can be a provider-supplied capability description. A thumbnail is a separate media file. Neither is a complete test of a live connection on your device, and neither should be presented as a measured frame rate or guaranteed resolution.

A useful quality report records what was observed, how it was checked and the limits of the result. A single successful observation is not a guarantee about a later session or a different network.

Evidence worth looking for

  • A clear distinction between an advertised specification and an original observation.
  • The device, browser, connection and check date for a test.
  • An explanation of whether the report concerns a still image or live media.
  • Limitations and failed observations alongside successful ones.
  • No invented resolution or viewer count to fill a missing field.

What a feed can contribute

A normalized feed can carry a provider's stated capability or a time-stamped presence record. It can supplement a review, but it cannot replace a documented quality test. Unknown quality data should stay unknown instead of becoming a premium badge.

CamEval does not publish provider-specific performance ratings in this release. This guide explains the evidence a future report would need, without using a decorative image as proof of performance.

Questions & answers

Does an HD thumbnail prove an HD live session?

No. A thumbnail and a live stream are different media, and the live result needs its own evidence.
