Private sessions: ask what the label covers

Private is not a complete description of a service. Ask about visibility, camera sharing, account requirements, charging and the limits of each claim.

The key distinction

Private is a feature description, not a promise of anonymity or security.

Ask for the provider's definition

A provider may use private to distinguish a session from a public broadcast. That does not fully describe who can participate, which camera controls are available, how an account is identified or what the provider retains. Read the exact feature description for the service you are considering.

Do not transfer a definition from one provider to another. Even familiar words can describe different account options or charging structures. A useful review should quote the scope in its own clear words and link the current official source, rather than suggesting that every private-labelled feature is equivalent.

Keep these questions separate

  • Who is allowed to see or join the session?
  • Is sharing your camera optional, supported or required?
  • What information is visible in the account or profile?
  • Which action starts a charge and which action ends it?
  • Where are recording, retention and reporting procedures explained?

A visible control is worth checking

Find the controls for leaving a session and managing the account before relying on a feature. If an explanation is unclear, use the provider's support route. A label on an affiliate card cannot establish what happens after you enter a different website.

A browser permission prompt concerns device access; it is not a promise about another participant's actions or the provider's data practices. Consider those questions separately and avoid making assumptions from the word private.

Questions & answers

Does an online profile mean a private session is available?

No. Presence and feature availability are separate facts and need separate confirmation.
